Ways to Brighten Up a Dull Interior

If you feel as if your home interiors are becoming a little dull and boring and they’re not making you feel inspired and positive in your own space, now is the time to change that. And don’t worry because doing so is pretty easy and there aren’t many steps that need to be taken to make it happen. Here are some of the most impactful changes you could make.

Add a Splash of Colour Through Art

Adding a splash color to the walls of your home might definitely be an idea that’s worth exploring if your space currently feels dull. If there’s no real color and everything seems samey and boring, you can brighten it up by adding some colorful art to the walls. Choose something that’s in keeping with your overall design aesthetic but allows you to bring in the color you’re looking for.

Make the Floors and Ceiling Lighter

Making the floor and ceiling a lighter colour might provide your home with a lighter feeling. If it’s currently too dark, making the lowest and highest points of the room white or a light colour will immediately change that. It doesn’t have to be a particularly difficult thing to do. But it can have a huge overall impact on your space, so it’s something to consider.

Hang a Mirror

Hanging a mirror in your space helps to reflect the light around it, making it feel brighter and more alive. It can also add a sense of depth to the space, which can be useful if you feel that the space is a little too confined or you simply don’t have much space at your disposal, to begin with. It’s amazing how much of a difference hanging a mirror on the wall can make.

Let in More Natural Light

When your interiors feel dull and subdued, it’s often because there’s simply not enough natural light coming in through the windows. Maybe you have window dressings that are simply too thick or your furniture is arranged in a way that doesn’t really make the most of the natural light in the space. But those are all things that you can correct.

Try Smart Lighting

If you’re not already using smart lighting, that’s something you might want to change. Smart lighting allows you to not only change the brightness of a space but also the type and colour of light that’s being used. Philips Hue light bulbs are good examples of smart lights. If you feel that your correct lighting setup is not helping the space, you might want to try these out.

As you can see, you don’t have to do anything too drastic to immediately brighten up your interiors and have them feel a little less dull and boring. Each of the ideas we’ve talked about here will make a difference in how your interiors look and feel. So if you weren’t sure where to start with your interior changes, make the most of the ideas above.
