Life is lived moment by moment. Unfortunately, so many people are not enjoying the moment as they are consumed by things that happened in the past or experiencing anxiety over things that may or may not happen in the future.
It's something I've struggled with since two Cancer diagnoses. The 'What if?' What if it comes back again? This constant pull between the past and the future is not healthy. It leads to negative emotions and reduced quality of life. Somebody once said to me "You're living waiting to die" It hit hard. I needed to snap out of it and find a way to create balance. Remain realistic whilst also being vigilant about my health, but not letting it consume my every thought. Planning for a future rather than reliving the past.
If you want to improve your life, then you need to find ways of enjoying and living in the moment more. The good thing is that there is a wide range of methods and strategies to help you enjoy the moment a bit more. This post is going to highlight a few of them for you:
Gratitude
Practising gratitude is a great way to help you live in the moment more. What it teaches you to do is look at the positives in your life and focus on the good. To begin this practice, when you wake up in the morning think about three things in your life that you are truly grateful for. It doesn't matter how mundane these things might seem; just come up with three things. Focus on the positive emotions that you experience from thinking about these things. Start making a list of these positive things and try and come up with three different things every morning. If you can't, then just use something from the previous day. What matters is how long you can sustain the positive feeling and exist in the moment of happiness that you get from that. I use a diary called 'The Daily Greatness Journal' which has gratitude prompts. Something like this can help you.
Meditate
If you have never meditated before, then you will be completely unaware of the advantages it can bring to your life. Meditation is a mindfulness technique and a way of helping you eliminate the chatter from your mind to live more in the present moment. It helps you learn how to let go of useless thoughts by making you concentrate on the here and now, such as your breathing or the feeling in your body. Meditation can also help you reduce stress and anxiety. It can help you prioritise the things in your life and even start decluttering your life of all the toxic things.
Learn to Indulge
We can all eat that cake that has been calling to us, but how many of us can enjoy it without feeling guilty? We all have different things that we enjoy in this life, and many of them come with an element of stress and guilt. If you want to enjoy life a little more, then you need to relinquish this guilt. The trick is to see these indulgences as treats. Don't do it all the time, and then it doesn't become an issue. Everything in moderation, as they say, is the key to living healthy, right, and being able to indulge. It doesn't matter what your vice is, whether it is a glass of wine or Delta 8 THC Vape Carts. Use them to treat yourself, and out of view of the children if you have them.
I of all people know it's not easy, but it is possible. Also, try listening to 'The Power of Now' by Eckhart Tolle for some further perspective.
Love Tx
