In the first part of this feature we talked about what the Law of Attraction is. In this second part I wanted to talk about how it works.
The idea is to see yourself living in abundance, and you will attract this. Seems easy enough, right? Wrong, here's the problem. Most people actually spend their time thinking about what they don't want, and they're wondering why it shows up over and over and over again.
The idea is that the Law of Attraction doesn't care whether you perceive something to be good or bad, or whether you want it, or you don't, it's responding to your thoughts. For example, if you don't want to be late and you're thinking every light is going to be on red, thats the signal you're putting out to the universe, if you're in debt, feeling terrible about it. That's the signal, you're putting out to the universe. Feeling bad about the traffic or because of the debt, you're just affirming it to yourself, you feel it on every level of your being, so that's what you're going to get more of, you are calling that into existence. The idea then is that it can work in your favour too. To put it simply, think of something you really want and you're sending that message out in to the universe instead, therefore drawing that thing to you like a magnet.
Seems to easy right? Well maybe. I can see the thinking behind it, but just thinking about something can't bring it into your life surely? Well, some say it can. If we're talking about an emotion or frame of mind, I can see how that could easily work, but I don't think a new Range Rover is going to appear out of nowhere by doing nothing other than me laying in bed daydreaming about it, or maybe it won't because I'm thinking like that, Aargh!!
At this stage I'm more inclined to believe more in The Law of Action i.e Positive thinking, hard work and the right mindset to get you what you want. This I can prove, because by working with my own coach Glen Mitchell, I have some very exciting things in the pipeline which I can't wait to share with you soon. BUT - I didn't get them without action.
Do I believe in the power of the mind? Yes
Do I believe that there are things about our own 'energy' and the universe that we don't fully understand? Yes
Do I think that these things can be responsible for more than we currently realise? Yes
If the Law of Attraction is to be believed, it is said you could start with something small and realistic, rather than a large windfall, a free cup of coffee for example. Maybe I'll try it and tell you if it worked.
Whether you believe it, or understand it or not, the idea is that The Law of Attraction is always working. Anytime your thoughts are flowing, the Law of Attraction is in operation. You could be thinking about anything, the past, present or the future. You can't stop it or pause it, it is forever in action.
The Law of Attraction will give you whatever it is you say, and focus on. So if you're complaining about how bad something is, what you're creating is more of how bad it is.
Is it a way of thinking? Possibly, that's probably the easiest way to get your head around it.
We tend to focus on what we don't want, or what we're afraid of. If we're telling someone about our day, it's easier to get more passionate about what went wrong that what went right. So, with this in mind, if you switch to a positive mind set and outlook, we tend to attract positive people and positive events.
We've all heard the phrase 'Got out of Bed the wrong side' or 'having a bad day' - one of those days when everything seems to go wrong from the start, in which case we tend to attract negative angry people, and negative angry circumstances. And so you end up attracting to you, the predominant thoughts that you're holding in your awareness, whether those thoughts are conscious, or whether they're unconscious.
I absolutely agree that the power of our mind is immense. What you think about, you bring about in your life, a physical manifestation of the thoughts that go on in your head.
We could go into it on a much deeper level, this is just scraping the surface, but let's save that for another post. For now, Coffee...
Love Tx
